The beautiful Skakavac (Grasshopper) Waterfall is located 12 kilometres north of the Sarajevo city center and is 96 meters high. Our trip begins in the center of Sarajevo ti the village of Nahorevo. First we’ll visit the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the largest cathedral in Bosnia and Hercegovina, built in 1889. After that, we are going to the Olympic stadium where you will find out about how Sarajevo once was a flower of Olympic . Next stop is the ZOO – the Pioneer Valley, the beautiful recreational and entertainment centar. It is the oldest zoo in Bosnia and Herzegovina which in 2012 hosted an exhibition with 52 dinosaurs, reconstructed by German Paleontological Research Center. The zoo is a home to several dozen species of animals and it also offer entertainment for children like electric cars, trains… As much as children love the entertainment part of the zoo, adults love it too .
When we arrive to the greatest and most attractive waterfall in BiH, you will be thrilled by landscape of exeptional beauty. Water flow of Skakavac is not really big, but because it is 98 meters high, it descends into a number of small waterfalls, then drops and smaller water particles, creating water dust that makes it exceptionally beautiful. The surroundings are one of the most heterogenic areas in that region dominated by spruce and fir and beech and fir forests with spruce on more pronounced slopes. On shallow carbon grounds in the vicinity of the waterfall, there are termofil forests and under brushes of eastern hornbeam and autumn locust as well as eastern hornbeam and manna ash. The rocks surrounding the waterfall have a very interesting vegetation dominated by endemic and relic types. We will climb to the top of the waterfall and you will enjoy the walk through the pine and beech forest and the views of Sarajevo below. We will take a short break for coffee or tea at the guest house.
On our way back, we will pass by the Latin bridge, the City Hall and the Church of Holy Archangels and you will hear interesting stories about Sarajevo you surly did not know about.

You will also hear about: village of Nahorevo- its name, the Franz Ferdinand’s assassination site, story of the Hounted house
